Privacy policy

If you send us an enquiry

The enquiry form asks for your name and email address, optionally your company and phone number, and whatever you write in the message. We also record the page you were on when you clicked through, so we know what you were reading when you got in touch.

We use that to answer you and to quote for the work. We will not add you to a marketing list because you sent an enquiry, unless you ask us to.

Lawful basis: legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Answering people who contact us is necessary to run the business, and it is what you would expect when you fill in a contact form. Where your enquiry is about buying from us, we also rely on Article 6(1)(b), taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

If you browse the site

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use the site: which pages get read, how visitors arrived, and roughly where in the world they are. It sets cookies on your device and sends information to Google, including a shortened IP address and an identifier for your browser.

Analytics only runs if you accept analytics cookies. If you decline, or ignore the banner, nothing is sent to Google and no analytics cookie is set.

If you have accepted analytics and you then send an enquiry, we store that Google Analytics browser identifier alongside the enquiry, so we can see which pages led to it. If you have not accepted analytics there is no identifier to store and the field stays empty.

Lawful basis: consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), given through the cookie banner. You can withdraw it at any time, see section 3.

Automatically, from hosting

Our host records standard server logs containing IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested. We use them to keep the site secure and running, and for nothing else.

Lawful basis: legitimate interests, keeping the site available and secure.

Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. Everything else here runs only with your consent.

We use no advertising cookies, no remarketing pixels and no cross-site tracking. Our typefaces are served from this site rather than a font CDN, and we embed no third-party maps, video or chat, so nothing else sets a cookie in your browser.

Use the Cookie preferences link in the footer of any page to change or withdraw your choice at any time. It is also here:

Withdrawing consent stops any further collection. It does not undo what was collected while consent was in place. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. We use these providers, each under a contract requiring them to process data only on our instructions:

Where a technical question needs a manufacturer’s engineer to answer it, we may pass on the technical detail of your duty. We do not pass on your contact details for that without telling you.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, for example in response to a court order or a request from a regulator.

Some of those providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered either by UK adequacy regulations, including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it, or by the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Be informed about how we use your data. That is what this page is for
• Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification, to have inaccurate data corrected
• Erasure, to ask us to delete your data
• Restrict processing, to ask us to pause using it
• Data portability, to receive certain data in a machine-readable format
• Object to processing we base on legitimate interests
• Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

Email privacy@channelpumps.com to exercise any of these. We will respond within one month, free of charge unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

We do no automated decision-making or profiling on this site.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, tell us first at privacy@channelpumps.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and let you know the outcome.

If you are still not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. You can do that at any time. You do not have to come to us first.

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. If we change something significant about how we use your data, we will make that clear on the site, and ask for your cookie choice again where consent is involved.
