About Crane
Crane ChemPharma & Energy is the flow-control arm of Crane Co., and it carries a set of valve and pump brands rather than one product line. ELRO is the peristaltic pump brand within it, and the pumps are built by Crane Process Flow Technologies GmbH in Düsseldorf.
ELRO have been in the positive displacement market for over 25 years, which is the useful thing to know about them. The range was not designed as a laboratory tube pump that grew up. It was built from the start for contaminated media on industrial sites, and the engineering shows it: a thick reinforced hose, a shoe rather than rollers, an integrated vacuum system to hold the flow rate, and drives that include petrol, diesel, hydraulic and pneumatic because the duties often have no mains power.
That is why the brand is on this site. Abrasive slurry, aggressive chemistry, anything that eats a seal: those are the media we spend most of our time on, and they are what ELRO was built for.
The Crane range we supply
View allEvery ELRO pump we supply is a peristaltic hose pump. What separates the three ranges is whether the pump travels, and how much pressure it will hold.
The Series T is the mobile pump. Two sizes, up to 18 m³/h at 1.5 bar, on an electric, petrol or diesel drive and a portable frame at 59 to 76 kg. Tank cleaning, plant hire and dock work.
The Series M is the mobile pump for awkward power and hazardous media. Up to 20 m³/h at 2 bar, and the M300 takes six drive types including hydraulic, pneumatic and a water turbine. Three builds are ATEX classified, and the GUP 3-1,5 is built to DIN 14427 for the fire service.
The Series IP and XP are the stationary industrial pumps, and the ones to look at when pressure matters. Hose bores from 15 mm to 91 mm and pressure bands reaching 13 bar.
The dividing line is pressure. Both mobile ranges stop at 2 bar, which is fine for emptying a tank and not much use for pushing product any distance. Cross that and you are into the IP and XP, and into a machine that gets bolted down: an IP800 is 620 kg and an XP800 is 693 kg.

Crane's stationary hose pumps for abrasive and aggressive process duty, in eight sizes from 15 to 91 mm bore.

Crane's mobile peristaltic pump in six drive types, including ATEX and DIN 14427 fire-service builds.

Crane's mobile peristaltic pump on a portable frame, to 18 m³/h, with an electric, petrol or diesel drive.
Standards & quality
All three ranges are built to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and the harmonised standards EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 13857 and EN 809, and are RoHS compliant.
Where the area is classified, the certification is range-specific and worth checking before you specify. On the Series M, the M20E Ex, the M20W water turbine and the GP 20/10 Ex carry ATEX II 2G c IIB T3. On the stationary pumps, the IP range is ATEX compliant to 94/9/EC II 2G c IIA T3 and the XP range is not. The GUP 3-1,5 is additionally built to DIN 14427, the German firefighting equipment standard.
Frequently asked
What pumps does Crane ELRO make?
Peristaltic hose pumps in three ranges. The Series T and Series M are mobile units to 18 and 20 m³/h. The Series IP and XP are stationary industrial pumps with hose bores from 15 mm to 91 mm and pressure bands to 13 bar.
Which ELRO range should I specify?
Take it from pressure and siting. If the pump has to travel and the duty is under 2 bar, that is the Series T or Series M. If it is fixed plant, or needs more than 2 bar, that is the Series IP or XP.
Are ELRO pumps ATEX certified?
Some builds are. The M20E Ex, M20W and GP 20/10 Ex carry II 2G c IIB T3, and the stationary IP range is compliant to 94/9/EC II 2G c IIA T3. The XP range is not, so specify an IP for a classified area.
